What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech Therapist 24-25 Year position at Powell County Schools?
POSITION TITLE : Speech Therapist
REPORTS TO : Director of Special Education & / or Principal
BASIC FUNCTION : Must meet minimum standards as determined by Kentucky Certification Standards
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES : The terms of employments are designated by the contract.
- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance
- Physical ability to perform duties as required
- Works with assigned agencies / schools to provide speech therapy for identified children.
- Ensure that screening and evaluation procedures are provided for these students.
- Ensure that due process procedures are followed.
- Maintain necessary records in a confidential manner.
- Work in condition with the Director of Special Education to meet program needs for identified students.
- Assist the Director in locating and identifying eligible disabled students.
- Assist by screening, referred children to determine eligibility for further evaluations.
- Schedules evaluations for those children determined through screen / referral process to be eligible. Works with other professionals (i.e. school psychologists) to ensure a complete evaluation.
- Keeps all records required by law, and due process requirements. This includes but is not limited to permission forms, testing (screening & other), IEP's and documentation of parental contact.
- Other duties as assigned by Building or District Level Administration

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Master's Degree in Communication Disorders
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS : Kentucky Department of Education Certificate for Teachers of Exceptional Children-Speech and communications Disorders, Grades K-12
