PDC Buyer Job Description
The Buyer is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with PDCs needs for indirect materials and services, fixed assets and tooling and assigned production materials and services. Items are to be secured at the best possible cost, highest quality and at competitive delivery levels consistent with company policy and performance standards. The buyer is instrumental in helping PDC achieve its productivity goals of at least 3-5% savings year over year on raw material procurements. He/she will report directly to the Buyer Sr.
This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a Department of State or Commercial License.
Essential Functions:
· Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
· Commitment to the Companys policies, principles, and procedures and adheres to the Companys procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), discipline/corrective action, and security.
· Manages the procurement process from receipt of purchase requisition through delivery of material, confirming price and expected delivery dates.
· Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiates price and terms with suppliers and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
· Capitalizes on productivity opportunities including volume pricing/long term agreements, strategic source selection, blanket orders, etc. \Capitalize on productivity opportunities including volume pricing/long term agreements, strategic source selection, blanket orders, etc.
· Resolve pricing/lead time challenges that do not meet business needs. Elevates supplier delinquencies that delays production and delivery to appropriate personnel.
· Review periodically and ensure adequate safety stock levels and improve inventory performance
· Enters and maintains purchase orders, due dates, lead times and change orders.
· Participates on team projects, audits and vendor evaluations. Collaborate with cross functional teams as required for work assignments.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively negotiate.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Ability to research and analyze various different type of data information.
Educational / Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree preferred.
- 2-5 years relevant work experience preferred.
· Any combination of education, training and experience listed above that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
