POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Distribution Engineer for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in Portland, OR. The qualified candidate must be familiar with the design and operation of utility distribution systems by either being directly employed by an electric utility company’s distribution department, or by consulting in distribution planning and design for an electric utility company. Base Salary Range: $98k - $163k
The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. Mid-Level Distribution Engineer Summary Of Roles And Responsibilities
POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Distribution Engineer for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in Portland, OR. The qualified candidate must be familiar with the design and operation of utility distribution systems by either being directly employed by an electric utility company’s distribution department, or by consulting in distribution planning and design for an electric utility company. In-office is preferred but a fully remote or hybrid position can be discussed. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Engineering and design for overhead and underground systems in varying electrical and environment conditions, with varying client and industry standards will be a primary responsibility
- The ability to have direct, positive client interaction on all phases of projects is expected
- Leading teams of engineers, designers, field personnel, and drafters to complete projects is expected
- Assisting with developing proposals, work plans, budgets, and schedules as well as assisting with managing each element will be required
- The ability to apply engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop the most complete and competent design
- The ability to review engineering packages and reports is required. The ability to sign/seal is preferred.
- Candidate must be located in Washington or Oregon
- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering; preferably electrical, civil, or mechanical.
- Six (6) years of utility distribution experience
- Significant knowledge of the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV)
- Experience with utility standards, NEC, NESC, joint facilities design, compatible units, and construction package development
- Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
- Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Must have a strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills
- Must have the ability to travel upon occasion
- A registered Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain registration
- Exposure to Work Management programs such as Maximo, SAP, etc.
- Exposure to utility GIS such as GE Smallworld, ArcFM, AUD, etc.
- Exposure to electrical loading and analysis programs such as CYMEDIST and MilSoft
- Exposure to pole loading and analysis programs such as Spida-Calc and PLS-CADD
- Strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills
