Senior Substation Project Engineer Job Summary
POWER Engineers is seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our San Antonio, Texas office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within commutable distance of the office).
Responsibilities
- Grow and manage relationships with local clients
- Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution
- Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations including one-line diagrams, three line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
- Ensure POWER quality procedures are followed and that the team is resourced in an optimal manner
- Perform QA/QC for deliverables to clients across multiple offices
- Manage all schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects.
- Ability to function as a Senior Substation Project Engineer in San Antonio office of our Substation Business Unit
- BSEE (BS in Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS in Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option
- Professional Engineering license (PE) or ability to obtain within one year
- Experience in 15kV through 345kV physical and electrical substation design, and IEEE/ANSI standards
- Experience in managing five or more people on a project team.Experience filling the role of project engineer for several projects occurring concurrently
- Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
- Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
- Ten or more years experience in utility substation design is preferred
- Experience with and established positive relationships with local clients
- Experience in 345kV through 500 kV substation design.
