POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is currently seeking a Substation Civil Designer/Drafter to perform engineering design activities for electrical substations. This position reports to the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Syracuse, New York office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid or remote work environment (preference is Eastern or Mountain time zones).

Base Salary Range: $60,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is currently seeking a Substation Civil Designer/Drafter to perform engineering design activities for electrical substations. Roles And Responsibilities
- The position involves drafting and design opportunities on substation projects that include civil site development.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge; learning client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations; being responsible for knowing and following POWER's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborating on design issues; and seeking guidance from those with more experience
- Preparation of drawing packages to satisfy client and code requirements
- Associates/technical degree in an accredited drafting program, or sufficient industry experience
- Three (3) years civil design/drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, preferably in an engineering work environment
- Model an existing surface from survey data
- Model proposed Grading using feature lines and grading tools
- Model road designs using alignments and corridors
- Site development experience, including ability to create grading plans and details, erosion control design and site survey coordinate systems
- The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with other team members
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
- Experience with Autodesk Raster Design or Bentley Descartes
- Knowledge of industry standard concrete, rebar and structural steel detailing practices
- Abilility to create steel and foundation plans, sections and elevations
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good background with mathematics
