Power-Flo Technologies is seeking a Junior Applications Engineer to join our team in New Hyde Park. The Junior Applications Engineer will perform various functions which primarily involve providing detailed estimates for projects based on construction drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
This is a full-time, on-site role in New Hyde Park, NY.
Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000 (commensurate with experience)

As a Junior Applications Engineer, you will :
- Clearly communicate bids and scope of work to the Project Managers, supervisors, and contractors/subcontractor in a clear and easy-to-understand manner.
- Propose and offer suggestions to the Chief Estimator or appropriate authority for contemplated expenditures.
- Provide complete quantity take-off, analysis, and estimate, and studies for all deliverables involved in the assigned scope.
- Identify design and constructability issues and analysis to determine constructability.
- Define more cost-efficient alternatives to the proposed scope of project.
- Act as a connection between subcontractors, design team (architects, engineers, consultants), and client.
- Prepare and assemble bids and proposals for various contract types.
- Determine required but non indicated scope through the analysis of site conditions and all contract documents (plans specifications, etc.).
- Analyze preliminary data, historical data, construction sites, and deliverables, etc., to determine the scope of work and project estimate.
- Collaborate with operations staff and other estimators to ensure that General Conditions and Requirement items are appropriately captured in the estimate.
- Perform assessment on subcontractor proposals to ascertain if scope is covered and also manage the risk of scope gaps.
Junior Applications Engineer Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
- Knowledge and experience in practical estimating or engineering
- Knowledge of estimating techniques
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems
- Ability to use technical diagramming tools (Experience with Visio a plus)
- Proficient skills with Microsoft office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats
- Ability to work well in a team environment while also working independently for periods throughout the day
- Valid and clean NYS driver's license to make trips to vendors and sites as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, computer mouse, adding machine, and telephone for prolonged periods of time
