A "FCAW Welder Fabricator D1.1" job description entails a skilled metalworker proficient in using the Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) process to fabricate metal structures, adhering to the AWS D1.1 welding code standards, which primarily governs structural welding on steel components; responsibilities include reading blueprints, precisely cutting and fitting metal pieces, welding according to specifications, and performing quality checks on finished welds to ensure structural integrity.
Qualifications :
Accurately read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols to understand project requirements and fabrication procedures.
Cut, grind, and prepare metal components to precise dimensions using various cutting tools like saws, plasma cutters, and grinders.
Precisely fit and align metal pieces together using jigs, fixtures, and hand tools to ensure proper assembly before welding.
Perform FCAW welding operations in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) while maintaining consistent weld quality and adhering to D1.1 standards.
Conduct visual inspections of welds, utilizing non-destructive testing methods as required, to ensure compliance with quality standards and identify any defects.
Grind and finish welded joints to achieve desired surface finish and remove slag.
Follow all safety procedures related to welding equipment, PPE, and work area to maintain a safe working environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
Possess a valid FCAW welding certification according to AWS D1.1 standards.
