What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Assistant position at POWER MECHANICAL, INC.?
JOB SUMMARY:
Loading and unloading inbound and outbound materials and equipment. Identifying, labeling, securing, and moving materials and equipment to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas. Recording and entering associated inventory transactions in the ERP system. Preparing materials and equipment for site transfer, inspection and/or shipment using necessary material handling tools and vehicles in accordance with established safety policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- MATERIALS RECEIVING AND STOCKING:
1. Verify condition of inbound / outbound shipments and notify receiving clerk of any damage before confirming delivery receipt.
2. Perform check in and initial inspection. (Check for damage, compare to packing list, and check for certification documents)
3. Physically route materials to designated stocking locations, record bin location and quantity information, and log data into ERP system via handheld scanner.
- RENTAL UNIT RECEIVING AND VERIFICATION:
1. Check condition of rental unit upon receipt and secure it for first inspection via receiving checklist. (Perform “Layup” procedure)
2. Check in applicable accessories and components and verify their condition.
3. Return completed receiving documents to the rental receiving clerk.
- MANUFACTURING ORDER PICKING AND DELIVERY:
1. Physically pick and stage necessary materials for manufacturing work orders and prepare them for shipment to the manufacturing site as needed.
2. Read and interpret manufacturing work order ticket or material request instructions to ensure that the appropriate item and quantity are selected.
3. Utilize the handheld scanning device to ensure that the oldest inventory is picked first (FIFO) and that the inventory issue transaction is entered correctly.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in 5S, Safety and improvement projects. General maintenance, cleaning, of receiving and stocking areas.
- Assist with inventory count and reconciliation activities (cycle count and physical count)
- Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the workload.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma, equivalency certificate, or proof of sufficient reading, mathematics, and computer skills to fulfill essential functions.
- Basic knowledge of material handing processes.
- Forklift operator experience is preferred.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform regular reaching overhead.
- Prolonged standing.
- Frequent climbing of steps.
- Frequent bending or stooping.
- Ability to work in cold or hot environments.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
- Work is varied in nature and is performed with frequent interruptions. Work requires close attention to detail and accuracy. Occasional mental stress is involved in completing tasks according to schedule and facilitating material and equipment flow through applicable manufacturing and service processes.
