Work Location : Remote

Reports to : VP of Project Management

FLSA Status : Exempt

Estimated Travel : 20%

Job Summary :

The Projects General Manager is the lead for all assigned power projects and is responsible for asset management, including contractual compliance, operations and maintenance oversight, budgeting, cash management, commercial analysis, and owner interface. This position reports to the Vice President of Project Management and is supported by the internal accounting and finance team. The position requires periodic travel, estimated to be 20% of the work schedule.

Educational Requirements :

  • A four-year degree from an accredited university, or equivalent work and / or military experience is required.
  • A graduate degree in engineering or business is desired.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Oversee all commercial and business aspects of the assigned power projects, including fuel procurement, merchant dispatch, hedge programs, analysis of potential opportunities, and impacts stemming from the market conditions and contracts.
  • Lead a cross-functional team of experienced professionals managing multiple power projects.
  • Lead the development of an annual budget and business plan that meets the objectives of the owners, project structure, and contracts.
  • Coordinate, prepare, review, and timely submit accurate project deliverables, including project budget, monthly management report(s), cash flow forecasting, project finance compliance ratios, and other items as owner may request.
  • Work with the team to ensure project performance is in compliance with all project documents, including project management agreement, project finance documents, O&M agreement, CSA or LTP agreement, fuel and transportation agreements, and energy management agreement.
  • Coordinate and manage project cash flow and have a complete understanding of all distribution conditions and capital requirements for the project.
  • Oversee the O&M contractor and the O&M Agreement, including adherence to the project budget, management of operator bonus, achievement of performance metrics, and outage planning / timing.
  • Oversee the O&M contractor’s compliance with applicable safety, environmental, power generating (including NERC and FERC) and contractual requirements to achieve consistently superior performance as outlined and evaluated by project metrics.
  • Serve as the Responsible Official and Designated Representative for project environmental reporting.
  • Negotiate contracts and permits.
  • Confirm insurance policies are in accordance with project documents and facilitate insurance claims processes, as applicable.
  • Provide additional services as requested and / or necessary for the overall management and administration of the projects.
  • Requirements :

    Required Qualifications :

  • At least ten (10) years of power industry experience including significant plant experience working in an asset management, O&M, or engineering management role.
  • Experience as a project manager leading a team and responsible for planning, directing, or controlling assigned resources to achieve performance metrics.
  • Commercial knowledge and demonstrated understanding of power markets, power purchase agreements, fuel contracts, ISO rules, dispatch strategies, insurance claims, and margin optimization.
  • Experience overseeing and understanding budgeting, business planning, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with contract negotiations.
  • Diplomacy and the ability to simultaneously understand owner, client, and organizational needs and use this ability communicate effectively and deliver superior quality.
  • Communications skills (written, listening, and presentation) and the ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others.
  • A strong orientation to safety.
  • A strong orientation to quality and service; experience establishing effective relationships with customers and developing their trust and respect.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other appropriate software applications.
