POSITION : Technician, Utility
LOCATION : Jupiter, FL
STATUS : Hourly Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following :
Performs engraving, buffing, grinding, polishing, and touch up grinding on components or coatings using various tools and equipment per specification
Performs sandblasting on components during reconditioning process per specification
Utilizes precision measuring equipment as required to check work
Assists operators in setting up equipment
Operates cleaning process machines such as the ultrasonic or the hot water wash
Operate other process specific equipment as required
Operates small cranes and fork-lifts to move equipment, parts, and material
Quality check of the performed work before operation step confirmation
Preparation / confirmation of the required quality documentation
Reporting and monitoring of used production time per production step
Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and tools
Keeping the working environment and machines in a clean and proper condition
Following Environmental Health and Safety regulations
Performing waste handling in accordance to EHS procedures & legal requirements, such as :
Segregating waste generated
Placing hazardous and non-hazardous waste in appropriate containers
Maintaining waste containers closed and in good condition
Labeling waste containers with appropriate hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste labels
Marking the start accumulation date to hazardous waste label once the container in the satellite accumulation area becomes full.
Arranging internal waste transfer to central accumulation area
Contain and clean up area incidental spills
Continually improving operations and the working environment
Independently carry out all assigned technician work during the reconditioning process
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Complete specific on-the-job training towards meeting essential duties and work area performance criteria.
Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix, which includes :
Initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management training.
Skills / Experience
2 years of experience in a production or maintenance environment
2 years of experience of manufacturing experience with the specific skills in one of the following disciplines preferred : grinding, blending coatings, coatings application, coatings removal (strip line), blasting, heat treat, machining or welding
2 years of experience with interpretation of technical drawings or work instructions preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes
Basic knowledge of MS Office programs, SAP, and time keeping applications
Must be a detailed oriented, high energy, self-starter with the ability to drive the successful completion of projects within specified time frames
Strong oral communication skills required
Strong quality and customer focus
Process and Team oriented; Multicultural sensitivity
Trustworthy, quick learning, innovative and reliable
Proficient in the use of hand tools
Physical Requirements
Stooping / Crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time
Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another.
Pushing & Pulling
Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and / or fingers.
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as : preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and / or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and / or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
May require travel (air & ground) with short notice.
Being able to wear required PPEs for specific tasks performed, such as respirators, Tyvek suit, gloves, respirator, face shield, etc.
