The purpose of the Camp Counselor is to provide camp activities to children in a safe, caring, secure and effective manner with age appropriate interactions and play activities and experiences for the children within the determined age range, and in compliance with state requirements and qualifications. The Camp Counselor will monitor appropriate entry and exit of adults and children.

The Camp Counselor will monitor appropriate entry and exit of adults and children.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Greet children and parents in a positive, upbeat manner, while checking children in and out of the secured children's area according to center policy.
- Be well-versed and knowledgeable of the center's camp and childcare policies, and comfortable enforcing them to ensure a safe environment for all children.
- Provide parents and children a comfortable, safe and secure environment in a friendly setting.
- Respond to any camp participant issues related to service recovery and/or general program feedback in a timely manner and in coordination with management.
- Implement daily crafts, gym games and activities for participants of all age and skill levels to ensure safety and cooperation.
- Create a team atmosphere among the camp participants and staff.
- Be responsible for all assigned programs including being prompt and ready to begin on time, ending camp on time, set up prior to camp and clean-up of general area.
- Provide order, safety and security by being present on the basketball courts and other areas in which groups of members are sharing space and/or playing organized games.
- Ensure timely set up of gymnasium (and other areas as designated) with appropriate equipment as needed for programming.
- Maintain all program equipment and supplies in good working order, notifying management of any additional needs or required maintenance.
- Communicate with all participants and guardians, members, guests, contractors and team members as directed by Lead Camp Counselor.
- Conduct and participate in many sports with the ability to teach campers of all fitness levels.
- The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to center hours and work schedules.
- Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures including the use of facility paging system and confidence in calling EMS.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- 1 year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
- Minimum 6 months related experience or training preferred.
- Must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills, and the ability to work with members in a positive, service based manner.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain a controlled and professional demeanor.
- Proficient computer skills.
- CPR/AED certification required within 60 days of hire.
