Overview
POWER’s mission is to help women reclaim their lives from the disease of addiction to alcohol and other drugs, and to reduce the incidence of addiction in future generations. We are an agency committed to providing quality gender-responsive, trauma-informed treatment and recovery support services to women with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
POWER is seeking staff-level Registered Nurses for our brand new 21 bed inpatient detox and rehab facility located in East End Hospital, Wilkinsburg. We are looking for motivated RN's to join our team to provide trauma-informed care, with an emphasis towards compassion and dignity, for our clients. Duties include: assisting doctor with physicals, medication administration, and assessing clients in withdrawal management unit. RNs will also collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure clients are meeting their individualized treatment goals and needs.
Possible shifts can include (7:00pm-7:00am or 7:00am-7:00pm) with a shift differential offered.
Starting salary is $29.00/hour - based off of experience, education and skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Properly instructs and guides support staff and LPNs in client care responsibilities and assignments.
Orientation of new employees to unit specific policies and procedures.
Conveys accurate information in a supportive and courteous manner to unit staff.
Seeks out supervision and direction from physician. Assists physician as needed.
Completion of nursing assessments, transfers, discharges, treatment plans, progress notes, medication reconciliation, medication administration, and vitals.
Knowledge of detoxification protocols.
Provide medical lectures and groups.
Report any unusual occurrences to nurse supervisor/program director promptly.
Attend and actively participate in departmental staff meetings.
Maintain medical equipment in proper working order.
Maintain confidentiality and proper boundaries.
Documents nursing observations and patient care rendered.
Carries out prescribed therapeutic treatment.
Participates in the planning, implementing, and evaluating of nursing care.
Intervenes in crisis and other emergency situations.
Provides patient health education.
Establish and maintain positive public relations with physical health providers and specialists by serving as an ambassador of the POWER organization.
Maintain compliance with the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs licensing regulations and contract requirements, including the confidentially of drug and alcohol clients.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements (Education & Experience):
Current RN license.
Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
Awareness and understanding of regulating bodies (CARF and DDAP)
Strong background in Substance Use and Co-occurring Disorders preferred
Knowledge of HIPAA laws, Confidentiality, state licensing regulations, CPR, AED and First Aid, other trainings as required.
Able to effectively meet the needs of the client, positive relationships with internal and external customers and contributing to the success of POWER.
Excellent computer skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Understand and support a trauma-informed system of care.
Support POWER’s mission with a sensitivity of cultural diversity and workplace harmony.
Ability to secure FBI, Act 33 and 34 clearances.
Working Conditions
Working in POWER’s inpatient facility and on various shifts.
Ability to work the hours necessary to complete the work.
