We are a trusted electrician for residential and commercial projects and commercial buildouts. We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our team.
Position Overview: As an Electrical Estimator at PowerGen Electric, you will play a pivotal role in the early phases of electrical projects. You will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing competitive bids, and collaborating with our team to secure new contracts. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring our projects are financially viable, competitive, and delivered to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Evaluation: Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope of work, materials required, and potential challenges.
2. Cost Estimation: Calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for electrical projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
3. Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and well-organized bid proposals that include cost breakdowns, project schedules, and any value-added propositions to enhance competitiveness.
4. Client Relations: Interface with customers and clients as it relates to the quality and timeliness of services, and maintain strong relationships with industry contacts.
5. Vendor and Supplier Relations: Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions.
6. Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks associated with the project, including regulatory compliance, safety, and environmental concerns, and incorporate risk mitigation strategies into the estimate.
7. Value Engineering: Suggest cost-effective alternatives and value engineering ideas to optimize project budgets without compromising quality.
8. Bid Submission: Ensure timely submission of bids to prospective clients, adhering to all deadlines and requirements. Understands prevailing rate bid submittal and processes.
9. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, correspondence, and relevant project documents.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator in the construction or electrical industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Proficiency in Electrical Bid Manager (EBM) estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
10. Collaboration: Work closely with management and team members to provide accurate and timely information for decision-making during the bid process.
