Powerhouse Arts is a not-for-profit organization committed to creative expression. Housed in a purpose-built-facility in Brooklyn, the organization hosts an extended network of art and fabrication professionals and educators who work together to co-create and share artistic practices vital to the well-being of artists and the communities to which they serve. Our new facilities house fabrication services, production services, production spaces, and member workshops for artisans. In 2025, PHA expects to welcome in thousands of patrons as the building becomes a center for art and performance. Over the next few years, PHA will see growth and expansion in all areas of business and an increased focus on revenue generation.

PHA is seeking an Overnight Security and Safety Associate to join our team. This individual will serve as an S-95 and represent the organization at the Security Desk. This position reports to the Security and Safety Administrator.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Emergency & Fire Safety Operations

Monitor the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) continuously and respond to all alarms (fire, supervisory, trouble).
Execute the building's Comprehensive Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan during emergencies.
Report to the Fire Command Station and coordinate with FDNY, EMS, and other first responders.

Security & Surveillance

Monitor CCTV for suspicious or concerning activities.

Conduct regular visual inspections of the facility and surrounding grounds to identify fire and safety hazards.

Communication & Coordination

Act as a liaison with building personnel, FDNY, and NYPD during emergencies.

Provide clear announcements and direct personnel actions during emergencies.

Maintain accurate daily logs, fire records, and warden sign-in sheets.

Qualifications :

1-2 years experience working in a security setting, preference to experience working in a major cultural institution.

Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both orally and written.

Prior experience maintaining accurate logs and records of security-related activities, incidents, and observations.

Experience in operating multi-story 6 floor buildings preferred.

Must have and maintain a NYS Security Guard license.

Must have valid 8 and 16 Hour NYS Required Training Certificates.

Must complete 8 Hour Annual In-Service Course each calendar year.

A valid Fireguard Certification of Fitness S95, if not currently certified, must obtain within 90 days of employment.

Strong observational abilities and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Basic technical computer skill, experience using MS Office, Google Docs preferred.

Knowledge of security operations and procedures.

Composure in high-pressure situations.

Effective problem-solving and decision-making.

Must work extended shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Compensation : The hourly rate for this position is $22-24 / hr. The shifts available for this position will be Mon-Fri from 12am-8am and Saturday & Sunday from 12am-8am.We offer excellent benefits including health, dental and vision insurance, employer sponsored retirement plan and professional development opportunities.
