Powerhouse Arts is a not-for-profit organization committed to creative expression. Housed in a purpose-built-facility in Brooklyn, the organization hosts an extended network of art and fabrication professionals and educators who work together to co-create and share artistic practices vital to the well-being of artists and the communities to which they serve. Our new facilities house fabrication services, production services, production spaces, and member workshops for artisans. In 2025, PHA expects to welcome in thousands of patrons as the building becomes a center for art and performance. Over the next few years, PHA will see growth and expansion in all areas of business and an increased focus on revenue generation.
We are seeking a Visitor Services Coordinator who will be responsible for providing an excellent experience to Powerhouse Arts artist, members and visitors. This role will support with the admission process, assist with PHA retail shop, and address visitors inquiries while upholding excellent customer service and ensuring a positive and welcoming experience all visitors. This role will report to the Associate Director Artist Experience.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Visitor Experience:
As the first line of contact for visitors this role will deliver superior customer service, providing a gracious welcome and smooth check-in process, to every visitor.
- Greet and welcome visitors upon their arrival and help orient them to Powerhouse by letting them know the wide range of programming and activities available.
- Administer the check-in process with Powerhouse’s strategic goal of deepening engagement with visitors at top of mind, collecting contact information, and encouraging visitors to keep in touch with Powerhouse through our newsletter, website, and social media platforms.
- Maintain security by following procedures such as liaising with facilities team to troubleshoot operational issues including keycards, elevators, doors, etc, as well as monitoring logbooks, and issuing visitor badges.
- Work with colleagues to help administer the visitor experience operations for public programs, and special events.
- Process admission sales, track attendance, and answer visitor questions in a friendly and professional manner.
- Duties include checking in visitors and members, guiding visitors, answering general questions, and working with other frontline staff from the café, security, and public programs to ensure every visitor is welcomed.
- Take ownership of the lobby space, keeping the public areas clean and tidy for incoming visitors.
- Supports Powerhouse Arts administrative duties and special projects as necessary.
- Assist with PHA retail shop operations, including sales transactions, product inquiries and restocking.
- Answer and direct phone calls in a polite and friendly manner.
- Triage Powerhouse Arts info email and forward to the appropriate staff/department
- Leverage membership system, Mementos, to streamline check-in processes.
- Graciously lead public tours, leverage the tour sign-up system in MementosMomentus, familiarize guests with the history of the building, fabrication and membership facilities, and programming.
Artist Intake:
- Input fabrication client inquiries in project management software and liaise with Shop Directors, including tracking responses and following up as necessary.
- Field project inquiries in a timely manner, responding to questions, and guiding artists to the appropriate shop/service.
Other Responsibilities
- Manage and work some events that may take place outside working hours
- Attend staff meetings and participate in training sessions
- At all times carry out duties and responsibilities regarding Powerhouse’s Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, and Justice policies

- Ability to enforce Powerhouse Arts policies and procedures while maintaining superior customer service.
- Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment, but also independently as needed.
- Creative, organized, thorough, and resourceful
- Proficient in Box, Microsoft Word, Google suites.
- Flexibility on evenings and weekends is required. Flexibility to adjust schedules for emergency shift coverage is expected.
