Position Summary
The Occupational Therapy Assistant clinical specialist has taken increased initiative to assist department in maintaining high quality clinical practice with a particular focus on a specialized area or areas. Job Responsibilities
- Review physician’s referral, patient medication list, allergies and medical and surgical history.
- Delivers service in a timely to minimize patient wait time and optimize care.
Education/Experience
- Graduate of accredited Occupational Therapy Assistants program.
- Minimum work experience: 5 years in direct patient care experience with post graduate preparation, or specialty certification, or completion of significant continuing education leading to clinical competence in one or more areas: acute care, orthopedics, geriatrics, lymphedema, aquatic therapy, neurology, pediatrics, oncology or participation in the clinical education program.
- License/Registration/Certification: Indiana Licensure, CPR certification current, BLT Course C (Basic Life Support).
- Presentation to supervisor of a portfolio meeting the above requirements.
- These credentials will be maintained each year the COTA maintains this position.
- Must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work with frequent interruption.
- Must demonstrate self-assessment, initiation, and the ability to work collaboratively on a team.
- Must have a customer service orientation and ability to communicate and listen effectively.
