What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterility Assurance Specialist position at Powers Health?
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification in sterile processing required or obtained 24 months after employment.
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills required to facilitate effective interaction with a variety of health care professionals.
- Significant prior knowledge and experience working with surgical instrumentation and equipment required.
- Prior experience working with an instrument tray system and sterile wrapping techniques (single and double wrapping, peel pouches) required.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and to organize work in order of importance, prioritizing to achieve unit and Center goals.
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred or required to complete a course in medical terminology. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.
- Knowledge of Sterility in the operating room.
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards by attending in-services five by the state association.
