Heavy Equipment Shop Technician
We are looking to hire entry level heavy equipment shop technicians to service, and maintain our range of industrial crushing, screening and grinding equipment at our location in Lakeland, FL.
Shop techs on average will work 40-45 hours a week from Monday to Friday. You will have weekends and holidays off. Perks include holiday pay, annual bonuses, paid vacation, optional 401k, employee stock ownership program and optional health insurance.
As a shop technician, you will be responsible for inspecting heavy equipment, engines and conveyor systems. You will be carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to our rental fleet.
Powerscreen will provide all the required tools, uniforms, PPE and all necessary training upon hire.
To ensure success as a heavy equipment shop technician with our company, you should have proven experience working with heavy machinery, be physically fit, and be able to troubleshoot common mechanical problems.
Pay will be based on the applicant's experience and will be discussed in first interview after receiving their resume.
Heavy Equipment Shop Technician Responsibilities:
- Inspecting rock crushers, aggregate screeners and conveyor systems for proper performance.
- Diagnosing faults using manual and computerized testing equipment.
- Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts.
- Maintaining machinery to operate at maximum performance.
- Repair and replace damaged equipment parts.
- Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty equipment.
- Cleaning and servicing of machine components such as engines, crusher chambers and conveyor components.
- Performing major repair work when necessary.
- Working with other company mechanics on larger jobs.
Heavy Equipment Technician Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven work experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
- Experience working with hydraulics and DC voltage systems.
- Understanding of computer testing technologies.
- Ability to lift heavy components.
- Knowledge of construction equipment and diesel engines.
- Clean Driver’s License for the past 5 years
- Ability to work after-hours if required.
- Good communication skills.
- No personal tools required. Company will supply all necessary tools
Not required, but preference given to those that have:
- Bi-lingual (English – Spanish).
- Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Prior knowledge of Powerscreen machinery.
- Professional certification with any of the following engines: CAT, Scania, Deutz, Perkins
- Valid and current passport.
