A wholly owned subsidiary of BC Hydro, Powertech Labs is made up of about 220 scientists, technicians, engineers, and specialists. Our cross-departmental teams investigate, diagnose and solve complex problems within a variety of markets with highly technical specialization, and to exceptional standards.
You will be responsible for evaluating and enhancing our existing business processes, systems, and technologies. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to investigate gaps, gather project or user request requirements, and recommend/ implement solutions that drive process improvements and streamline operations. This position will work closely with business users to understand their business problems and translate that knowledge into a technical solutions.
Process Analysis: Assess current business processes and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency gains.
System Evaluation: evaluate the effectiveness of existing systems in supporting business operations and recommend enhancements or replacements as needed.
Requirements Gathering: collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements related to process improvements and system enhancements.
System Integration: identify opportunities for system integration to improve data flow and reduce manual data entry.
Data Analysis: analyze data and reports to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement in business processes.
Solution Design: develop solutions, including process changes, system configurations, or new technology implementations, to address identified issues. Trains internal staff on new processes and tools.
Documentation : create and publish templates and reference manuals to ensure consistent execution within Powertech business units. Monitor compliance and generate regular reports.
Qualifications
* Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Minimum of 6 years experience in analyzing and facilitating improvements and solutions for complex business process changes including at least 2 years in an IT advisory &/or supervisory role.
Skills, Knowledge & experience
* Project Management or other designation relating to the application of IT in business operation and change management would be an asset
* Demonstrated knowledge of business analysis, process mapping, requirement gathering, project analysis and reporting. Experience in a user support setting is a definite advantage.
* Excellent customer relationship management skill including the ability to manage a diverse customer base.
* Ability to plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with company policies/procedures
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to build and maintain rapport with all levels of the organization.
* Familiarity with business process modeling and analysis tools, knowledge of system integration principles and practices would be an asset. Able to see a project from concept to implementation.
* Advanced user of Microsoft & Quickbase software products preferred (for example Power BI, Power Automation, Sharepoint)
