What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Associate position at Powertex Group?
Responsible for supporting print manufacturing in the efficient and accurate production of branded print merchandise that meets the quality standards of Powertex, as well as our customer. Works to properly inspect and package/finish printed products to standards.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Reviews the Print Production Schedule with the Packaging Lead, Print Assistant and/or Print Operator
- Ensures the packaging area is fully stocked and universal supplies are on hand. Job specific supplies are present and staged for efficient access/use
- Supports the Packaging Lead to ensure subsequent projects known properly prepared for an efficient press changeover
- Read and fully understand the Job Traveler prior to beginning the packaging process to ensure accuracy
- Provide and demonstrate efficiency and attention to detail while catching, packaging, labeling and inspecting the quality of the print/garment
- Continuously inspects print quality. Inspection to include but not limited to: fuzz or strings in image, print out of registration, pinholes, running out of ink or item defects
- Must be willing and able to immediately bring quality concerns to the Packaging Lead, Print Assistant and/or Print Operator
- Ensures consistency in folding, bagging and labeling of garments. Package presentation is important
- Accurately counts and/or scales work and seeks run count verification with the Press Assistant and/or Press Operator by Production Task
- Documents count once validated/confirmed on the appropriate paperwork and/or system
- Professionally communicates up and down stream of the Packaging Associate role to ensure the production line is always on the same page
- Reports maintenance related issues/concerns to the Packaging Lead so they can request service via MaintainX software
- Assists in routine preventative maintenance as outlined/required for the support machinery
- Plays a role in ensuring inventory levels for packaging supplies are maintained. Alerts Packaging Lead when print supplies are at or near reorder levels
- Supports company Ethos in our daily work environment
- Maintain professionalism in all communication and actions when working with any individuals within or outside the company on behalf of the company
- Works to support the Packaging Lead and production line to ensure expectations of quality and efficiency are being met
- Follows all safety protocol, uses the appropriate PPE where required
- Supports all housekeeping efforts and the Packaging Lead in ensuring standards are met and maintained in the immediate work area(s)
- Ensures the packaging area is properly cleaned/cleared after each job to ensure the efficient transition to the next job
- Demonstrates the desire to learn up stream activities to better prepare yourself and the department for increased quality, accuracy and efficiency
- Supports improvement opportunities and is willing to offer suggestions as it relates to manufacturing
- Performs other duties as requested
Qualifications and requirements:
- Previous garment screen printing manufacturing experience highly desirable
- Previous manufacturing exposure via machine operation or support roles desirable
- High School diploma or equivalent required
Additional information:
- This position requires working from a standing position with frequently lifting <25lbs, kneeling, crouching, twisting and bending.
- This is a full-time position. Benefits are available the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.
