SUMMARY
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Litigation Environmental Defense Associate to join our dynamic team. This position is ideal for an attorney with 5-10 years of experience and a strong background in commercial litigation, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
LOCATION: Livonia, MI (Hybrid – 2 days in office)
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage complex litigation matters, including class action lawsuits and environmental defense cases.
- Handle cases involving oil spills, pollution, wetlands, property line disputes, and cannabis business setup, including permits and zoning regulations.
- Collaborate with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on relevant cases.
- Respond to discovery demands with minimal supervision, providing timely and accurate responses.
- Actively contribute to case strategy and litigation planning.
- Work collaboratively with a team to achieve client objectives and maintain the firm's reputation for excellence.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- 5-10 years of relevant litigation experience, particularly in commercial litigation and environmental defense.
- Proven experience handling class action lawsuits and working on cases involving complex environmental issues (Oil Spills, Pollution, Wetlands, Property Line Disputes).
- Experience working with regulatory agencies such as the DNR.
- Experience with cannabis business setup, zoning, and permitting requirements.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to commit beyond standard 9-5 hours as needed.
- Self-starter who requires minimal training and is comfortable handling cases independently.
- A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
