JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our client is seeking a highly qualified Traveling Superintendent to oversee field operations for projects in the manufacturing, industrial, and power & energy sectors. This role requires taking charge of field teams, ensuring project completion in a safe, timely, and budget-conscious manner while maintaining compliance with contracts and the highest quality and safety standards.
LOCATION:
• The main office is in Livonia, MI, but this position requires both short and long-term travel. Candidates must be willing to travel or relocate for extended periods based on project-specific requirements.
• The position is fully remote with extensive travel, and candidates can be based anywhere in the U.S.
• Candidates must be currently eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Operations Management:
• Supervise and coordinate various subcontractors to ensure compliance with contracts.
• Act as the primary on-site leader, representing the company in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.
• Ensure productivity, efficient use of materials, and adherence to contractual performance.
• Provide input on technical, manpower, means, and methods during the estimating process.
• Investigate and report all accidents immediately to the Safety Director and complete required forms.
• Conduct morning huddles, weekly safety meetings, and required progress meetings.
• Lead and enforce safety regulations, issue violations as necessary, and correct unsafe conditions immediately.
Project Leadership:
• Review and understand the overall project scope, subcontractor responsibilities, plans, specifications, schedules, and self-performed work estimates.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop project schedules, review trade staffing, materials, tools, and equipment requirements, and confirm subcontractor availability.
• Ensure all project documentation, including plans, specifications, as-builts, shop drawings, samples, inspections, test reports, meeting minutes, and daily logs, are maintained and up to date.
• Provide daily leadership and direction to company and subcontractor personnel to achieve quality, cost, schedule, and client satisfaction goals.
Client & Team Relations:
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, architects, subcontractors, laborers, and construction team members.
• Attend and participate in progress meetings, providing necessary updates and information.
• Submit daily field reports, percentage completion details, and change scope information to the main office and Project Manager.
Safety & Compliance:
• Implement safety and security programs, ensuring proper setup for office, laydown areas, parking, and other site requirements.
• Establish project survey and base layout control and benchmarks.
• Review project safety, security, logistics, layout, labor, and permit requirements.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Strong understanding of civil/site, architectural/finish, mechanical, and electrical work.
• Extensive knowledge of construction technology, equipment, methods, craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, cost control, schedules, and safety.
• Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret plans and specifications.
• Thorough working knowledge of OSHA safety, security, and environmental regulations.
• Experience with software such as Primavera, Prolog, and Viewpoint.
• Strong problem-solving and planning skills.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• Eight or more years of experience as a Superintendent on industrial projects, leading large, multi-union crews.
• Four-year engineering degree or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
• Completion of 10 hours of MIOSHA training.
• Completion of OSHA 30 and/or MUST Modules.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Completion of Accident Investigation training.

Salary : $110,000 - $115,000
