What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long-Term Substitute - Middle School Math Teacher position at Powhatan School?
Position Overview:
Powhatan School seeks a dedicated Middle School Math Teacher to serve as a long-term substitute for the remainder of the 2025 school year. We are looking for a middle school math substitute teacher with classroom experience, comfort with technology, and the ability to work collaboratively in an independent school setting.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Algebra and Geometry
- Design and implement engaging, student-centered lessons that foster a deep understanding of mathematical concepts
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support different learning styles and abilities.
- Serve as a homeroom teacher and an advisor to middle school students
- Effective and appropriate use of technology in the classroom
- Assess student progress and write comments for report cards
Requirements:
- B.S. in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree and teaching endorsement preferred but not required)
- Significant classroom experience with middle school-aged children
- Knowledge of best practices in math instruction
- Independent and/or public school classroom experience is preferred but not required.
