What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher position at Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia J-Care?
The Pozez Jewish Community Center seeks a dynamic, flexible teacher to join our educational team for our year-round, full-day early childhood center for infants through Pre-K at the Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia Early Childhood Learning Center. The ECLC is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and our staff co-teach in a professional, collaborative, Jewish environment.
Duties
Administrative & Classroom:
Maintain a cheerful, nurturing, healthy, safe and clean classroom environment
Maintain attendance and injury records
Maintain storage, organization, and cleanliness of classroom equipment and materials
Ensure the maintenance of a clean classroom
Reggio- Emilia Inspired Philosophy:
Implement the Reggio-Emilia inspired philosophy by promoting inquire through provocation, observation, community, or family events and by providing interesting, open-ended and provocative material items for exploration. Nurture physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and intellectual growth and development of each child.
Provide opportunities for children to experiment with the natural world and participate in real-life problem solving with opportunities for creative and critical thinking.
Create an inviting, warm, nurturing environment in which children are presented with open-ended materials to explore.
Communication & Community:
Communicate regularly with families and Administrative staff, including all concerns regarding a child's progress
Monitor growth and development of each child and communicate progress and/or concerns with parents, and Administrative staff
Communicate regularly with parents via email and phone calls
Protect the rights and privacy of children and families by maintaining strict confidentiality
Maintaining a continuing dialogue with the teaching team with regard to the children and classroom environment
Work with the teaching team on problem solving classroom and school issues
Professional Development:
Work towards increasing knowledge and abilities in the field of early childhood education and Judaism and related topics through attendance at workshops and courses, reading books or periodicals, or other means.
Complete at least 16 hours of Professional Development courses/workshops over the course of a year
Team with other staff for professionalism development on the peer to peer level
Strive for a good working relationship with fellow school and JCC staff

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move from standing to crouching to sitting on the floor and back to standing. The employee is occasionally required to carry children up to 40lbs.

Requirements
All applicants must have experience working with young children
Must be organized and have excellent writing skills
Must have a good understanding of digital and media languages
Must have experience working with young children in an early childhood setting
