What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sunrise Day Camp--Transportation and Data Coordinator position at Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia?
Sunrise Day Camp--Greater Washington is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified individual to serve as a Transportation and Data Coordinator for our day camp serving children with cancer and their siblings in the DMV region. Getting our campers to camp is one of the most impactful jobs at camp. Our campers ride busses (provided free of charge) from five different locations across the DMV and are dropped off by their parents. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for communication (with bus companies, bus counselors, parents, and camp admin staff), as well as a skill for collecting and aggregating data for daily reports. In down times during camp, this candidate will be excited about participating as a member of the larger camp community while always keeping in mind the vital camp operation of getting the kids to camp.
Sunrise Day Camp--Greater Washington is a program of the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia and a member of the Sunrise Association, whose mission is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings world-wide. This mission is achieved through the creation and oversight of welcoming, inclusive Summer Day Camps, Year-Round Programs and In-Hospital Recreational Activities, all offered free of charge. Qualifications:
- At least 25 years of age and/or have a bachelor’s degree in a child related field
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Experience working with children with special needs
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience managing multiple problems/situations at once
- Commitment to working collaboratively with others
- Ability to be flexible and solve problems creatively
- Great crisis management skills
- Understanding of Excel/Google sheets and its uses to track data
- Knowledge of the major roadways of the DC, Maryland, Virginia area is a plus
- Possess a good sense of humor, a passion for working with children, and knowledge and experience in working with children with unique physical and social-emotional needs
Essential Position Duties:
- Serve as member of the Sunrise Day Camp--Greater Washington leadership team
- Work with Camp Director both in advance of and during camp to set the tone for staff and campers
- Train and manage bus counselors
- Serve as liaison between other camp admin (Director, Assistant Director, Unit Leaders) and bus counselors
- Communicating and organizing with Bus Companies
- Log all camp attendance and communicate with parents when there is an extended camper absence.
- Coordinate late arrivals to camp with unit leaders and JCC personnel
- Finalize bus routes and monitoring communication of pickup locations with parents
- Serve as a member of the Administrative team
