Responsibilities:
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Comprehend industrial electrical applications and code.
Comprehend industrial electrical control schematics and drawings.
Prepare disciplined estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work. - Coordinate estimating effort relevant to particular estimate as assigned.
- Review and approve take-off and estimates done by estimator trainees under him/her.
- Submit bids and proposals on projects estimates.
- Prepare breakdown of estimate. Provide estimate information to Project Manager.
- Prepare reports as requested.
- Introduce cost saving ideas through redesign (Value Engineering opportunities).
- Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current information on prices from suppliers.
- Improve and update computer-estimating system. Maintain estimating system prices, labor, etc.
- Introduce better, more efficient estimating procedures.
- Schedule estimate backlog to determine how many estimators are required to complete estimates.
