The Safety department of Pieper Electric, Inc. is seeking a
Safety Intern to help support our growing company. The Safety Intern will assist the team to
review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and project safety. They
will help to design, modify, and coordinate safety programs and procedures to
control, eliminate, and prevent injury. The goal of the internship is to
gain hands-on experience in the construction industry, and encourage hazard
recognition to become incident and injury free.
This position is a full-time yearlong internship requiring
40 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Jobsite Visits & Safety Audits:
- Visit various jobsites with a member of the Safety Team by the request of a manager or at random. Learn how to interact with the field staff and leadership. Identify various compliance and safety issues, and encourage hazard recognition to support the company to “0” injuries. Perform independently once comfortable.
- Respond as a resource of information to employee questions and issues regarding safety
- Assist the Safety Team in developing topics for Branch safety meetings and monthly safety talks
- Participate in accident investigations and review meetings to determine and communicate root causes for future prevention
- Observe the Safety Team in conducting weekly Safety Orientations to new employees. Conduct independently once comfortable.
- Complete train-the-trainer courses and provide on the job training to employees as requested in the areas of Aerial Lift, Forklift, etc.
