POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist is responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resources department. Key areas of responsibility include assisting with employee relations, employment-recruitment, functional duties in compensation, benefits, and compliance with all relevant Federal, State, and local laws.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages online reports i.e., AZ New Hire Reporting, processes garnishment documents, assists with VOE's and any special report requests.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, and professional licensure.
- Assist with employee performance issues, communicate with management as needed on HR related issues, status changes, etc.
- Participates in the on/off-boarding process, employee training, coordinates special meetings and trainings.
- Actively involved with talent management - recruiting, onboard processing, internal/external job postings, posting jobs on internal employment site, external online job boards, prepares job ads for all postings or media placements. Post internal job postings weekly or as needed.
- Assist HR Manager with reviewing the applicant flow to ensure all recruitment advertisements are drawn in qualified applicants.
- Point of contact to receive all internal posting from internal employee applicants.
- Maintain and update as needed the PPEP Hiring employment site, update job descriptions as needed to ensure active position descriptions are posted on site.
- Collects invoices and processes authorizations to A/P for job advertisements or any other activity expenses.
- Assist with processing HRIS data entry audits, changes, term documentation and ensure data accuracy.
- Creates reports and conducts research analysis as directed in the areas of employment, compensation and EEO/AAP.
- Back-up for the Payroll Benefits Specialist with benefit administration, as needed.
- Handles incoming unemployment insurance claims, reviews, prepares responses, and coordinates UI hearings with management. Maintains UI document and records.
- Assist with communications relevant to implementations/trainings of new HR policy and procedures.
- Assist with conductingjob and compensation audits, salary surveys, and job grading recommendations.
- Participates with development and data collections as needed in the preparation and dissemination of AAP, EEO 1 and VETS 4212 reports.
- Updates HR forms as needed.
- Assist with - employee activities and recognition events. Provides ideas for the development of quarterly employee newsletters.
- Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field and two (2) years Human Resources experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, professional training or work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient PC skills including: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and HRIS system.
- Strong attention to detail, follow through and excellent organization skills.
- Strong customer service orientation demonstrated by flexibility and ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must have sense of urgency, adaptability, flexibility and resourcefulness.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and come up with creative solutions/processes.
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations: FMLA, ADA, EEOC, OSHA, DOL-FLSA, ERISA, and other related employment/labor laws.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA in relevant field or any or any combination of higher level of education, professional training or work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this human resources position.
- Experience working as a human resources generalist
- Prior work experience in a non-profit environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to see/read a computer monitor screen and keyboarding abilities.
- Must be able to lift and carry five (5) pounds
- Must be able to sit for long periods.
- Some travel is required.
- Ability to work extended hours as needed.
