PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - INTIMATE APPAREL
Leading Intimate Apparel company looking for a dynamic Product Development Manager.
The ideal candidate has a strong apparel product development background, solid organizational skills, communicates effectively cross-culturally, and has a thorough understanding of garment construction in order to efficiently execute the product development and production processes from initial design concept to bulk production while maintaining cost & delivery parameters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Daily communication with overseas suppliers to monitor the timing of all submits including fabric swatches, proto, fit, PP & TOP samples as well as lab dips, strike-offs, and packaging accessories (hangers, labels, tags). Takes ownership of the product to ensure submits adhere to product integrity and meet design intent.
· Communicate accurate sample, color, and packaging comments to the factories to ensure effective execution of lab dips, strike-offs, packaging accessories (hangers, labels, tags), PPs & TOPs. Have a strong working knowledge of color as well as general garment fit.
· Recommend product improvements for new designs to avoid potential production issues prior to tech packing.
· Drive product placement prior on factory performance and desired materials.
· Maintain tech pack & BOM accuracy at all points in the process - before hand-off to factories and in production.
· Ensure consistent & accurate updates to the Time & Action calendar within PLM. Monitor production workflow and overall timing on all accounts daily to meet production deadlines. Have a general knowledge of submit timing in order to estimate best delivery dates.
· Submit TOPs & packaging to licensors, in-house and private label brands.
· Communicate product updates daily with cross-functional teams (Design, Sales, Product & Technical Design).
· Ensure PLM, material reference books, and sample library are well-maintained and up to date. Make sure there is a reference sample kept for each order in the sample library.
· Identify, recommend, and implement continuous product & process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness throughout the department and company.
· Proactively search for creative solutions to product issues within the department by working with the factories and identifying new techniques, fabrications, etc.
· Set a great example for the team with a positive attitude, enthusiasm & cooperation. Provide a positive, motivating work environment.
· Reports to the VP of Product Management & Technical Design regarding daily responsibilities.
CANDIDATES MUST HAVE
· Strong understanding of the product development process.
· Knowledge of Intimates garment construction & fabrications preferred.
· Working knowledge of Time & Action calendar/WIP report.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Organized & able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.
· Proficient computer skills including MS Office & PLM programs.
· Knowledge of Mandarin a plus.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s degree preferred in Product Management, Fashion Design, or Textile Surface Design.
· 5-7 years’ work experience in the field.
