Overview
This position is responsible for performing engineering work but with limited direct responsibility. This position is within the Ghent Engineering group (position located in Ghent, KY) and will focus on supporting the generating station with mechanical related project work.
This position will be filled according to the candidate's qualification and experience.
Responsibilities
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and / or suggests improved methods.
- Gathers, correlates, and analyzes specific data using established procedures.
- Performs detailed and / or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests and analysis.
- Performs a variety of routine tasks to become familiar with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the company.
- Supports operating and maintenance functions with engineering analysis, troubleshooting, problem identification, problem resolution activities.
- Assists other engineering disciplines with large projects, as needed.
- Assists with the development of station / engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs and procedures.
- Reviews plant data on a regular basis to ensure optimum heat rate / process performance.
- Provide engineering oversight for plant thermal performance, including but not limited to boiler performance, steam turbine performance, condenser performance and air heater performance.
- Conducts regular meetings with plant management to review plant performance status and areas of improvement.
- Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free workplace.
- Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
- Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Occasionally directs the activities of coops, contract employees and others, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Education
ABET Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
