Overview
Supervise a crew of four or more substation personnel, including the supervisor, for the purposes of constructing, maintaining, and repairing substation equipment at both the distribution and transmission levels. This position is responsible for the on-site safety of the workers and the quality of the work and ensures compliance with all company safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
Responsibilities
Major Accountabilities
Must have the technical competence to supervise a crew of four or more in construction, maintenance, and repair of Transmission, Distribution, and Generation substation facilities.
Must organize, plan, and control the work from start to completion
Must be able to train employees to operate without direct supervision
Must know the abilities and capabilities of each employee under their supervision
Must be able to delegate parts of each job to the crew members
Must promote teamwork
Must know and support all Company rules, regulations, and policies
Liaison between management and employees on various issues
Recommend promotions, demotions, discharge, and discipline
Must perform all work safely, obeying all Company safety rules and OSHA rules and regulations
Responsible for accurate records on all materials used and hours worked by employees on crew
Must work with all departments within the Company to help accomplish overall goals
Must work closely with Central Engineering Department, Safety Department, Project Management Department, Construction Management Department, and SC&M Management
Qualifications
Recommended Education / Experience
Associates or two-year technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline or a minimum of 7 years of experience in substation construction and maintenance work. Substation Supervisor B experience preferred.
Special Qualifications
Experience as a Substation Tech A
Must be successfully recommended from EEI test
Must have good mathematical, literacy and communications skills
Must have a valid driver’s license and be certifiable under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and have a Commercial Drivers License (Class A) with the following endorsements : air brakes, tankers, and hazardous materials. Must live within 25 miles of report location or be willing to relocate.

Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance in this position.
Work Conditions
Regular working hours with frequent overtime and overnight travel. Exposure to severe weather, traffic, and high voltage equipment. Considerable responsibility and pressure.
Physical Effort
Must have good vision and hearing
Must have good physical coordination (lift and carry up to 50 lbs., stoop, bend, push, pull, etc.)
Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use hand and power tools

Remote Work
The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change.
