Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support and referral scheduling in a medical office setting as well as help on the clinical side of the office, ensuring efficient operations and excellent patient service.
Duties:
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer phone calls, schedule new patient referral appointments, and assist with inquiries
- Maintain patient records and input data accurately into medical systems
- Assist healthcare providers with medical and administrative tasks
- Process medication prior authorizations
- Coordinate and schedule all new patient referrals
- Ensure compliance with medical office policies and procedures by daily reviewing patients medication history through the SCPMP program and presenting the medical assistants with the information.
*THIS IS A FLOATING POSITION- MONDAYS WILL BE CLINICAL PULLING PATIENTS FOR 1 MD, TUESDAY-FRIDAY WILL INCLUDE SCHEDULING IN OFFICE REFERRALS AND DAILY JOB DUTIES AND/OR FILLING IN FOR OTHER STAFF MEMBERS*
Requirements:
- Experience working with medical terminology and patient service
- Proficiency in using medical office systems
- Knowledge in pain management is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities within a small office team
Requirements for application:
1-2 years experience with patient intake and data entry at a medical office, pain management knowledge a plus
General understanding or previous experience with medical insurance verification and proper knowledge and understanding of deductible, copay, and co-insurances
Proficient data entry/typing skills with overall understanding of using multiple Microsoft Office application like Excel and Word.
Telephone etiquette
Must have at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent GED. Applicants with higher education such as Trade school, Technical school, College , or University will take higher priority in interviewing.
