Job Description
The Process Engineer is responsible for process engineering design, commissioning, and process improvements for the sodium silicate processes at the Augusta site, both the existing operating plant as well as a new plant under construction. This individual will also serve as project manager for some process-related capital projects.
This individual will report to the Plant Manager administratively, but in the first 18 months reporting to the Project Manager responsible for construction of the new sodium silicate furnace and glass dissolving operations.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a minimum 5 years of experience in process engineering or similar role. Master’s degree in chemical engineering a plus.
- Possess a strong foundation in engineering principles to include an in-depth understanding of chemical processes, materials science, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics. Staying abreast of technological advancements and continuously updating technical knowledge.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams). Visio, SAP or AutoCAD experience a plus.
- Experience in development and field verifications of PFD’s, P&ID’s, equipment layouts, equipment lists and equipment datasheets
- Familiar with a variety of equipment in the processing industry, including pumps, heat exchangers, reactors, filtration, flow measurement, conveyors, mills, bulk solid/powder material transfer equipment, including technological advancements in the above.
- Possess exceptional analytical skills to dissect complex problems and devise effective solutions. This involves a keen eye for detail, the ability to conduct rigorous data analysis, and the application of
- statistical methods to understand process variations and optimize performance.
- Experience of commissioning/startup of new process systems. Including training of others.
- Familiar with the various aspects of OSHA’s process safety management (PSM) regulations, including PHA’s, management of change, mechanical integrity, and relief valve sizing.

Special Factors
- Work environment is a mix of operating plant, plant in construction, lab, and office. This role is based in a chemical manufacturing plant that typically operates 24/7.
- Travel <15%
- Customary work hours (e.g. 7 am – 4pm or as needed to achieve business objectives)
