The Uban Environmental Chemist provides expert advice and technical support in the assessment, management, and mitigation of chemical-related environmental issues. This role involves conducting detailed environmental studies, interpreting data, and developing strategies to address chemical contamination in water and wastewater. The consultant works closely with clients from various sectors, including industrial, governmental, and non-profit organizations, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to promote sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- MassDEP Certified Laboratory Supervisor
- Supervisor laboratory operations in compliance with the MassDEP requirements
- Ensure all reporting and data analysis in complete.
- Maintain all QA/QC procedures.
- Environmental NPDES Monitoring:
- Conduct chemical analyses of environmental samples (water).
- Identify and quantify contaminants and assess their potential impacts on the environment and human health.
- Design and implement field sampling programs and laboratory tests.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation:
- Analyze complex chemical data using advanced statistical and modeling techniques.
- Interpret findings and prepare detailed technical reports, including risk assessments and environmental impact statements.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Advise clients on compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals for projects involving chemical usage or remediation.
- Stay updated on changes in environmental laws and standards.
- Consultation and Client Interaction:
- Provide expert advice and solutions to clients on chemical management and environmental issues.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions on environmental chemistry topics.
- Sustainability and Environmental Management:
- Promote sustainable chemical practices and processes in client operations.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to reduce environmental footprints and enhance sustainability.
- Support the development of corporate environmental policies and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental chemistry, environmental consulting, or a related field.
- Proven track record in environmental assessments, data analysis, and regulatory compliance.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in chemical analysis techniques and laboratory instrumentation.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards (e.g., EPA, OSHA).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Project management experience is a plus.
Working Conditions:
