About the Role:
We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group academic instruction to Spanish speaking 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students at New Pathways Academy. As an in-person tutor, you’ll partner in the classroom with teachers to deliver personalized small-group instruction in your preferred subject matter that empowers students to grow their skills, boost their confidence, and achieve academic success.
What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with teachers and school leaders to deliver targeted, culturally responsive support in middle school subject areas (Math/Science/ELA/Social Studies).
- Engage small groups of students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience.
- Be a valued part of a team dedicated to transforming educational outcomes in underserved communities.
Schedule:
- Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Time: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
- Duration: December 10th, 2024 – May 23rd, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
- Key Dates Off:
- December 24 – January 1 (Winter Recess)
- January 29 (Lunar New Year)
- February 17 – February 21 (Midwinter Recess)
- March 21 (K-8 Parent-Teacher Conferences – Early Dismissal)
- March 31 (Eid al-Fitr)
- April 14 – April 18 (Spring Recess)
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching middle school level subjects.
- Bilingual Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide academic support in both languages.
- Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
- Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
- Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
