State-of-the-Art Facilities

TMH’s M.T. Mustian Center houses 28 state-of-the-art operating rooms, four interventional suites and three thoughtfully designed adult intensive care units (ICUs) to accommodate 72 ICU patient rooms. Directly connected to the existing Main Hospital, the center is located on TMH’s main campus, near the corner of Miccosukee Road and Medical Drive. As the most expensive single construction project in Tallahassee’s history, the facility represents a more than 270-million-dollar investment in caring for the community.

Tallahassee, Your New Home!

Near but far from the castles and crowds of Disney, lies another magical place in the Sunshine State – one with a fascinating past, a diverse population, a buzzing political center and great pride: Tallahassee. Often described as “The Other Florida” with its deep-rooted history, rolling hills, mild climate, Southern-style hospitality and canopy roads of moss-draped oaks, Tallahassee is a Florida few have seen.

A medium-sized city best known as Florida’s state capital, Tallahassee is a hub of political activity and home to universities, research institutes and some of the state’s most pristine nature, including expansive parks and trails. It’s the perfect place to put down roots, grow your family and practice medicine.

Tallahassee is located in the central northwest panhandle region of Florida, 30 minutes north of the Gulf of Mexico and 30 minutes south of Thomasville, Georgia. This region marks the center of the eight-county “Big Bend” region, and features a unique mix of urban and rural communities.

Partnership with Florida State University

Building upon TMH’s existing education and research partnership with Florida State University (FSU), the partners recently announced a plan to build the FSU Health Tallahassee Center, a new facility that will offer advanced medical training and translational research opportunities and explore the academic health center of the future.

The building, funded by a $125 million appropriation from the Florida Legislature, will be located on the TMH campus and include educational, medical and research laboratory space while drawing on the knowledge and expertise of TMH clinicians and faculty from the FSU College of Medicine and College of Nursing. The center will provide about 130,000 gross square feet of medical and research-related space distributed over five floors. It will accommodate an estimated 30 principal investigators, producing an estimated $40 million of additional annual grant funding, focused on clinical trials, data-driven precision health, digital health and clinical informatics, and clinical and translational research. The preliminary conservative economic impact of the new Academic Health Center alone is expected to add more than $217 million annually and support more than 1,500 jobs directly and indirectly. During the three-year construction phase, roughly 1,200 jobs will be created. Post construction and activation, the center will sustain more than 350 permanent and high-paying jobs.

TMH and FSU have also broken ground on a new healthcare campus located in Panama City Beach, Florida. The campus is planned to be located on an 87-acre parcel near the intersection of State Highway 79 and Phillip Griffitts Sr. Parkway, just minutes from the Latitude Margaritaville Watersound community, the 55-and-better community which is planned for 3,500 homes.
