We are looking for a Hematology/Oncology physician for our physician medicine team at our Huntington VA Medical Center. We are seeking a BE/BC Hematology/Oncology physician with an unrestricted MD / DO medical license, who shares our commitment to providing excellent care to our US Veterans.

- Provide expert consultation and treatment for patients in the outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic, as well as provide feedback and inpatient consultation with the other services within the Huntington VA Medical Center.
- Evaluate, triage, and prioritize requests from Primary Care providers and others for outpatient Hematology/Oncology subspecialty consultations.
- Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order, and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
- Coordinate medical management and care with primary care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary healthcare delivery system.
- Participate in telemedicine services between the main medical center and the various Community-Based Outpatient Clinics.
- Physicians will attend staff meetings, serve on the Cancer Committee and Tumor Board as well as VISN Oncology ICC meetings, be comfortable interacting with multidisciplinary teams, work groups, and peer reviews as requested.
- Incorporate and perform "Time-Outs" as per the VA Directive prior to any invasive procedure.
- Ensure consents for chemotherapy agents are up-to-date.
- Provide consultations, make daily rounds, and manage oncology issues of patients admitted to hospitalist service.
- Orders diagnostic studies and interprets laboratory tests, EKGs, and radiologic tests.
- Assist with the diagnosis and interpretation of pulmonary nodules.
- Provides ongoing outpatient care for assigned case load.
- Prescribes and refills medications within the defined scope of practice.
- Provides education and counseling for patients and families as well as overseeing Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
- Performing administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews and Ongoing Professional Practice
- Rounding, supervision, and teaching with students, residents on the inpatient ward as well as the outpatient clinic.
- Excellent compensation – Great base salary, based on qualifications, with annual performance pay, biennial market pay raises & annual cost of living pay raises

- Excellent daily work schedule – Monday through Friday – 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with potential for some weekends
