The staff Neurologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm or 7:30am - 4:00pm
Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
EDRP Authorized: Contact the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. - Provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment and education of patients with Neurologic disorders.
- Evaluate, triage, and prioritize consult requests to ensure timely care for patients suspected of having disorders of the nervous system.
- Coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
- Perform, supervise, and interpret results of procedures related to Neurologic disorders such as lumbar punctures, EMGs, and EEGs.
- Lead the Code Stroke team in accordance with the facility stroke protocol.
- Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews, Compensation and Pension evaluations, and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).
- Provide on call services as needed for after hours and weekend support.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to any Physician Assistants and/or Nurse Practitioners working in the Neurology clinic.
- Physician will be required to attend staff meetings, serves on committees, teams, workgroups, and peer reviews as requested. Completes CME, VA Training, HIPAA, Security training, and other training mandatory trainings.
