GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNED DUTIES.
Thisphysician isprimarily responsible forproviding ophthalmological caretoveterans bothclinically andsurgically. They will also beresponsible forresident supervision perVAguidelinesandforstaffingOphthalmologyclinics.Physiciansmustattendstaff meetings andparticipate oncommittees assigned. Physicians willberesponsible for timely medical records, including computerorder/entry and, support Section Chief, Chief,SurgicalServiceandTVHSinobtaining Performance Measures.The physicianis responsible for completing allVAmandatory andassigned educational training.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS.
ThisphysicianreportstotheChiefofOphthalmologyandhasnodirect reports.
CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUIREMENT.
Meets theneeds of all customers whilesupportingtheMedical Center and Service missions.Consistentlycommunicates and treats customers (patients,visitors, volunteers,and all Medical Center staff)in a courteous,tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customers with consistentinformation according to establishedpolicies and procedures . Handles conflictandproblems indealing with the customer constructively and appropriately .
AGE, DEVELOPMENT AND CULTURAL NEEDS OF PATIENTS.
Provides careand/orservices appropriatetothe ageofthepatientsbeing served, andwhichisappropriatetothecognitive,emotional,and chronologicalmaturation of the patient.Assessesdata reflective of the patient'sstatus and interpretthe information neededtoidentify each patient's requirementsrelative to their age-specific needs and to provide care needed as describedin the services' policies and procedures. Taking into considerationage-relateddifferences ofthe various v eteran populations of this institution. The incumbent must demonstrate the changes associatedwith aging and possessthe ability to provide care/support baseduponage-relatedfactors. Ensuresstaff receives trainingin thesecategories. Sensitivityto the specialneedsof all patientswith respectto age, developmental requirements,and culturallyrelatedfactors must be consistentlyachieved.
