Primary and specialty medical care is provided by PeaceHealth Medical Group—Ketchikan and Prince of Wales Island. Our Trauma IV emergency department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, staffed by physicians who are independent contractors employed by National Emergency Services (NES).

- Board Certified MD/DO who has successfully completed a General Surgery Residency
- At least 5 years of post-training experience due to the solo and rural nature of this position
- Interest in a practice that is GI-heavy preferred
- Ability to work independently and be excited about creative solutions for patients in our island community
- Willingness to do a small amount of Wound Care, as there is not a wound care clinic on island. There is a Wound Care certified RN on staff
- Clinic Hours Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
- 2 days of surgery per week (same hours)
- No weekends
- Call is 1:3 (roughly 10 days/month); 24-hour call for ED and Inpatients and any urgent surgeries
- RN/LPN who have been on the team for many years – the practice flows really well
- Good OR capabilities (no robotics)
- 3 ORs - 2 are staffed all the time / 1 Minor OR / Procedure room in clinic for in-office General Surgery procedures
- Visiting specialists for GI and Urology
- Epic EHR

- Guaranteed first-year income: $525,501.00

Essential Functions
- Practice of medicine within the scope of license, training and credentialing.
- Practice of medicine in accordance with the current standards of care as well as the quality criteria adopted by the clinic.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

Working Conditions
Lifting
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
- Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
- Bending/ stooping / reaching occasionally.
- Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
