Description:

The Part-Time Technical Support Services Specialist is primarily responsible for the operation, fabrication, and issuance of NASA Controlled Access Area (CAA) badge transactions, JSC temporary passes, center specific badges and credentials, NASA Foreign National permits, JSC ID cards, bullet badges (media, overlays, and special events).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble/mail security investigation forms/packages to employees and review all paperwork received for accuracy and completeness as they pertain to the PRP, I/T, NRP, and Foreign National security programs.
  • Conduct background checks as required.
  • Accomplish data entry requirements on personnel processed under the above listed programs.
  • Accomplish document imaging for all personnel security and foreign national records.
  • Prepare and file statistical reports, metrics, presentations, and spreadsheets as required.
  • Fingerprint designated personnel for security checks, investigations or clearance purposes in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Complete all required reports, forms, and other documentation in accordance with established procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision

This position has no supervisory components.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One year of responsible administrative, secretarial, or badging experience preferred.

Skills, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Clearance

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, (such as: MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with others.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate mission requirements.
  • Possess strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an in-depth understanding of various computer software applications to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Knowledge of standard office and administrative practices and procedures including business letter writing, records management, report preparation, and filing methods, correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary; modern office methods, equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to provide varied technical and administrative assistance; use initiative and sound judgment within established guidelines; organize, coordinate, and prioritize a variety of assignments with varying deadlines; work effectively under pressure with frequent interruptions; handle difficult, confidential and sensitive assignments; organize and maintain a variety of confidential records, reports and files.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Work Environment - The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
