Veterinary Support Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in veterinary care, with the ability to assist veterinarians in various medical procedures and provide exceptional care to our animal patients. This role requires a blend of technical skills, knowledge of veterinary terminology, and a genuine love for animals.

Duties

• Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
• Perform diagnostic tests including X-rays and laboratory work to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health issues.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
• Utilize proper aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
• Provide education to pet owners regarding animal care, nutrition, and training.
• Restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments to ensure the safety of both staff and patients.
• Participate in dental cleanings and other dental procedures as needed.
• Assist with grooming tasks when required, ensuring pets are clean and well-cared for.

Qualifications

• Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program is preferred.
• Proficiency in veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, and dental terminology is essential.
• Experience with equine care is a plus but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of dog training techniques is beneficial for providing comprehensive care.
• Strong skills in animal restraint techniques to ensure safe handling during examinations.
• Ability to perform basic grooming tasks as needed for patient comfort.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
