We are thrilled to invite you to become a part of our dedicated team as an Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) at Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC) in Gallup, NM! This long-term contract offers you the opportunity to make a difference in our Indian Health Service (IHS) facility.
At GIMC, a 99-bed hospital on the border of the Navajo Reservation, you'll engage in various clinical specialties, including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Anesthesia, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Radiology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, and Urology. We proudly manage around 250,000 outpatient visits and 5,800 inpatient admissions each year—making us one of the busiest and largest staff hospitals in the Indian Health Service.
**What Awaits You:**
- A fulfilling long-term contract for 13 weeks up to a year, with the opportunity for extensions.
- 8-hour shifts and call rotation.
- The chance to work at a Level III Trauma Center where your expertise truly shines.
- Flexibility to work with any U.S. nursing license.
- Aiming for ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications preferred.
- IV skills are essential.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Operating Room RN is required.
- An ADN required or BSN in Nursing is preferred.
- Travel experience and/or prior IHS experience, preferred.
**Your Impact:**
In our Operating Room, you will provide exceptional perioperative care and handle a variety of elective and emergency surgeries, including general surgery, orthopedics, and OB/GYN procedures. With over 2,400 cases managed annually, your role is vital in delivering high-quality trauma care.
You will:
- Provide comprehensive perioperative care to patients.
- Assess health statuses through thorough examinations and medical histories.
- Initiate treatments and resuscitative measures following physician and anesthesia protocols.
- Administer medications and therapeutic interventions with precision.
- Document patient care and observations accurately in the operating room.
- Address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients.
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment skillfully.
- Collaborate with surgical and multidisciplinary teams for outstanding patient care.
- Monitor patients under local anesthesia and support them in the PACU as needed.

Requirements
- Minimum of (2) two years experience required
- Nursing experience in an Operating Room as a Registered Nurse in an Acute Care Setting, required
- Graduated from a National League of Nursing Accredited Nursing Program
- Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree, or Diploma from an accredited professional nursing education program is required.
- Active BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- Applicant must have active and unrestricted, current licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse (RN) in any State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules
- Ability to take call
- Must be a US citizen living primarily in the United States
- Must be willing to pass a federal background check
