What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Steward position at PRAIRIE BAND POTAWATOMI ENTERTAINMENT CORP?
Coordinates and leads all Steward Department personnel to include training and evaluating, while maintaining department standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Staff, schedule and lead the daily activities of dish and pot washing, kitchen cleaning and equipment cleanliness
• Ensure that equipment, food prep areas and food service areas are sanitary
• Maintain procedures to prevent damage breakage and waste necessary to ensure a cost-effective operation
• Ensure proper scheduling with maximum performance and minimum labor cost
• Recommends capital purchases and cost saving objectives
• Counsel, guide and develop assigned personnel in the proper performance of their duties
• Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner and encourages others to do the same
• Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Required
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Two years’ experience in food service
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation standard
• Must have speed and accuracy in order to maintain maximum efficiency
• Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team
• Must present a well-groomed appearance as outlined in the Prairie Band Casino & Resort Employee Handbook
• A record of satisfactory performance and reliability in all prior and current employment
Preferred
• Bilingual in Spanish

• Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the kitchen and food service areas
• Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

• Must be able to push carts, pull, reach, bend, stoop, and stack racks of dishes and silverware
• Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations
• Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues
• Must be able to meet the level three or medium work requirements based on the Department of Labor Dictionary of Titles: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
