What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tribal Intern position at PRAIRIE BAND POTAWATOMI ENTERTAINMENT CORP?
The internship provides enrolled members of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and other tribal students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and offers on-the-job training in the casino and hotel industry. The internship can be held for a maximum of 2 years with potential job placement at the casino within a position related to their major field of study. The goal is to have students learn the casino business with an emphasis in these 12 core competency areas:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Able to communicate effectively with Team Members and guests in the casino
- Be a self-motivated individual with the ability to initiate and maintain a drive for learning
- Works together with the Tribal Development Program Coordinator and assigned Mentor on creating long-range training goals and objectives to help increase job knowledge within the department and of Prairie Band Casino & Resort
- Be able to professionally interact with the casino customer base while assisting in promotions, concerts and events
- Attend all assigned meetings and complete the required assignments and projects
- Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner
- Responsible for managing any other activities of the facilities operations assigned from time to time
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Required
- High School Graduate or GED
- Enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)
- Must be successfully attending a post-secondary institution and in the process of completing the first semester of sophomore-level or higher; or graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in the past 12 months within one or more of the following disciplines: Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Criminal Justice, Golf Management, Information Technology, and Facilities Management
- Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 within a discipline listed above
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and computer skills; can create and edit documents in PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Full-time work schedule which will include, nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours
- A record of satisfactory performance and reliability in all prior and current employment
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to reach above and below shoulders while performing duties
- Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations
- Able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke
- Able to lift maximum of 50 pounds
