Role:

The Family Practice Physician provides high quality comprehensive primary, preventive, and therapeutic medical care, promotes wellness, and fosters a culture of caring, respect, and understanding for patients of Prairie Band Potawatomi Health Center. The Family Practice Physician works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.


Minimum Requirements:

Experience: At least one year experience in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Care, or Pediatrics.

Education: Have obtained a Doctorate Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school. Be board certified or eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics. Have a current unrestricted state license to practice medicine. Have a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number. Have a current and valid BCLS certification.

Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
  • Knowledge of organisms, their tissues, cells, functions, interdependencies, and interactions with each other and the environment.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local law and policies pertaining to health care.
  • Knowledge of principles of infection control and universal precautions for the prevention of communicable diseases
