As a Food and Beverage Hospitality Intern you will have a unique opportunity to learn about the day-to-day operations of a food and beverage department within a hospitality setting. You will work closely with our team to deliver exceptional guest experiences while acquiring valuable skills and knowledge in the food and beverage sector.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Guest Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting members and guests, taking orders, and ensuring their needs are met.
- Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times, addressing guest inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.
- Food and Beverage Operations:
- Assist in the preparation and service of food and beverages, including but not limited to taking orders, serving dishes, and making recommendations to guests.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene standards in food preparation, handing, and storage.
- Learn about menu items, ingredients, and beverage offerings to provide informed recommendations to members and guests.
- Lodging Operations:
- Assist with checking in members and guests for their lodge stays
- Assist members and guests with questions and special requests regarding food, laundry, concierge services, or housekeeping. Directs members and guests to appropriate staff for assistance when needed.
- Preparing and/or prepping lodge stock prior to member or guest arrival.
- Work with the lodge housekeeping department on room freshens and flips between guests
- Kitchen Expo:
- Assist FOH & BOH as a Kitchen Expo, organizing, assembling and expediting food orders, working closely with the kitchen staff, serves, and management to ensure timely and accurate delivery of meals to members and guests.
- Event Operations:
- Work with the Director of Events to plan room setup and floor plans for upcoming events.
- Maintains BEO’s and prepares BEO packets for all meetings.
- Works with the Director of Membership & Communications on special communications for Prairie Dunes events
- Table Maintenance:
- Set up and clear dining tables, ensuring that they are clean, properly arranged, and appropriately decorated.
- Monitor table turnover and maintain a neat and organized dining area.
- Collaborative Work:
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to coordinate the timing of food service and ensure orders are delivered promptly.
- Work closely with other team members, such as servers, bartenders, and host/hostesses, to ensure smooth operation of the food and beverage department.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Assist in managing reservations, tracking guest preferences, and maintaining accurate records.
- Support in inventory management, including restocking supplies and keeping track of stock levels.
- Training and Development:
- Participate in training programs to learn about the restaurant’s standards, procedures, and customer service expectations.
- Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth by actively participating in feedback sessions and training activities.
- Other Duties:
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Food & Beverage.
