What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nap House and After Care Assistant position at Prairie Hill Waldorf School?
Kindergarten Nap House Assistant
Will provide support to the Kindergarten Lead Teacher and Assistant in establishing a daily rhythm in the classroom that fosters rest and regeneration for the children.
Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 1:00-3:00 pm
Duties Include:
- Assist the children in preparation for the bathroom and rest, through soothing songs, stories, and gentle massage
- Help children to rise and clean up from rest time
- Join the lead teacher outdoors with children for dismissal
Aftercare Assistant
Will provide support to the lead Aftercare provider with students in Grade 1-8 by creating a safe environment for students where they can complete their homework, enjoy playtime and snack.
Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 3:15-5:30pm and Thursday 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm
Duties Included:
- Planning for and creating snacks for a multi-aged group
- Planning age-appropriate activities
- Following school policy and procedure when interacting with students
- Preparing and cleaning After Care space(s)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field is preferred but not necessary
Understanding of the Waldorf early childhood education model is preferred
Experience:
One year minimum of experience working with children in a group setting
