Job Summary
This PRN or relief position is open to Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistant applicants. The advanced practice provider will provide specialized care to patients presenting for emergency treatment in accordance with established standards, policies, and scope of practice with appropriate collaborating physician agreement.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the care of patients assigned, including but not limited to, triage, medical screening examination, patient interview and assessment, physical examination as indicated, and performing or ordering diagnostic tests as appropriate to determine a diagnosis to provide or prescribe treatment and/or need for ongoing care.
- Works in collaboration with physicians and other health professionals.
- Utilizes professional skills in interviewing, assessment, evaluation, identification and implementation of interventions/treatment plans based on the specific needs of each patient.
- Serves as a clinical resource, utilizing critical thinking skills to act as an interdisciplinary consultant and patient advocate.
- Monitors the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
- Responsive to the age-related needs of the patient with special attention given to education and safety.
- Responsible for the ordering of diagnostic procedures.
- Offers counseling and education to meet patient needs.
- Responsible for prescribing and/or dispensing prescription medication.
- Interacts professionally with patients, families, and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Graduate from an approved Physician Assistant or Family Nursing Practitioner program; holds or is eligible for certification and licensure in the State of South Dakota.
Two (2) years progressively responsible experience required.
Must hold or be willing to achieve certification in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS.
