JOB SUMMARY
Plans organizes, develops, coordinates, and directs the operations of the Hospital and Clinic Patient Access functions in accordance with federal, state, and accrediting body standards, guidelines, and regulations. This position is responsible for the functions of hospital and clinic financial clearance, admitting, reception, and scheduling.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates clinic policies, procedures, and departmental activities.
- Supervises Patient Access staff, assures all receive orientation and continuing education relative to their specific job responsibilities, and provides ongoing professional growth and development opportunities.
- Works with reception staff to ensure courteous and friendly reception of patients checking in for appointments and accurate and complete registration at the time of the visit.
- Works with the Business Office to make certain communication/interactions to monitor the effectiveness of patient registration to ensure accurate and timely billing.
- Serves as a liaison with the phone system and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the phone system's capabilities.
- Oversees staff and workflow adherence to the system's Financial Clearance Policy.
- Monitors process to reduce duplicate medical record charts and works together with HIM and IT staff to correct any errors or duplicate charts that get created.
- Ensures that reception and scheduling staff are trained properly in using functions of the EMR to assist with their daily duties. These include but are not limited to tasking, call processing, photo uploading, and pharmacy updates.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination experience. Management experience preferred.
Microsoft Office applications and CPSI. Will participate in ongoing education and maintenance of electronic health record software (CPSI and eCW)
